Hunting down Modernism. The Prohibited Arts in the Third Reich

Curators: Judith Schönwiesner, dr Monika Rydiger
After the opening show at the ICC Gallery the exhibition travelled to Germany. The display recalls the artists, writers and composers per-secuted by the Nazis in 1933–1945. By bringing together visual arts, literature and music the exhibition shows the scale of these develop-ments and the huge effort of the totalitarian regime to purge the entire German culture of all elements contrary to the Nazi doctrine.
Organisers of the exhibition: Landschaftsverband Rheinland, Kun-stmuseum in Mülheim an der Ruhr, the International Cultural Centre in Krakow. Project realised within the North
Rhine-Westphalia Cultural Season in Poland 2011/2012.
